Some Useful Shop Techniques for Woodcraft
Monday, May 31st, 2010The market leader in a woodworking project must be able to explain to children the different techniques in some simple projects – how to invoke questions, such as zoom in or out of a model, how to follow it properly, operation of the jigsaw or puzzle.
checkerboard method of enlargement Patterns
The design of each project can be extended to any action by excluding a piece of paper which was 1/2-inch squares with the model and outlines. A second piece of tracing paper is then ready to be with big squares of increasing size.
For example, one inch square twice the size of the pattern – 3/4-inch square, the size of the structure by a third, and so on increased. The contours of the ground then the second leaf, adding the outline of a transfer box at a time.
Preparation of materials
If children are expected to follow the model itself should be taken to ensure that the paper layer is maintained on the ground and the piece of wood, on which the project will be postponed. This may be in the book cover or with clips or tape reached to hold the draw in position by pressing the edge of the sheet of tracing paper firmly.
If a pencil is used for research, the model simply by turning paper and rub the back with a ballpoint pen tip or foam where the lines seem ready to be transferred.
Shop Techniques
Checkerboard method to expand a model
Lay tracing paper to enlarge on the design or pattern you want, and place it carefully.
Draw a square around the sample back and using a ruler, divide the box into a number of small squares.
Decide what size of model must be square and draw a second box of this size. Share the big box, used in exactly the same number of seats in the delimitation of the original design.
Now you’re ready to copy the model in the large box, draw a square at a time, until the drawing is completed.
The same technique can be used to reduce the size of a model, if the area in which the model is copied smaller than the original design.
With the jigsaw and jigsaw
The difficulty faced by children is effective with adaptation saw to cut mainly to the lack of support for the piece of wood. The wood should be clamped or held in a vise so that the point where the saw cuts as possible to the jaws of the vise and close the “C” clamp.
If this principle is not respected, the resulting vibration or rattling of the card is probably the cause of splitting wood. It may be necessary to change the position of the piece of wood several times during cutting to maintain the good relationship vise or emissions.
When the cut with a jigsaw, the best results are obtained by small strokes, even aligned at right angles into the wood. The blade must be done by slowly turning the frame without sharp reversal of the handle, which can lead to broken wing. The detailed figures with sharp edges should be made of wood block as outline before attempting to reach awkward corners are cut. Very tight angle to try the best way to approach the head of two pages, instead, turn the corner to cut.
The teaching of these techniques can contribute significantly to the child’s first teacher of their projects.
